The Meade Family

Last night we had “dinner” at a place called Snapperz.

I use the term dinner loosley.

We are going to hold Ethan’s birthday party there. The place is awesome and luckily Ethan loved it.

I didn’t have a camera with me other than the iPhone … And the only time Ethan himself stood still long enough for a picture was when he was on a machine that was moving.

Here are a few shots of just such an occasion via the iPhone’s humble camera.

Often when I am up late at night waiting for the next feeding with Aaron… I get bored.

Sometimes I build a castle for Ethan to discover in the mornings. (out of his blocks)

He always rounds the corner into the family room and as he sees the castle he stops cold ad gasps! Then screams “whoa!!”

He runs up to it … stops and looks at it for ten seconds… Then destroys it.

It’s fun.

I had the thought to take a pic of the castle one night.

Here is Castle Meade.
It never lasts long … But it keeps coming back. The barbarian hordes can’t truly defeat king Daddy!

This is my first post from my iPhone!

It’s also my first post to multiple sites from one post. I’ve installed a few plugins that will help me keep several sites running.

We’ll see how it goes.
Not sure if the iPhone post will keep all me line breaks and stuff.

I’m also going to be using fewer categories for posts. This will be an adjustment but in the long run it will be more efficient.

I will try to pick up the slack with the thoughtful use of tags.

All for now … Next test will try to add a picture.

Aaron Patrick Meade arrived July14th, 2008

I’m just finishing the late night feeding.
Will post more when I have more sleep

So I’m a little under the weather this weekend.
So is Ethan.

We’re both just drained and sickly.
Poor Ethan has expelled enough snot to fill his skull twice over.

But even in times of sickness sometimes there’s a moment of Zen.

This morning Ethan crawled up on the couch I was laying on and laid down with me.
We laid there watching cartoons. Just Ethan and Daddy.
It was the coolest thing ever.

Suddenly I felt much better and hoped he would stay there all morning.
He didn’t of course.
He’s not really himself unless he’s climbing something that he shouldn’t be climbing.
But for a while it was a perfect moment.

It reminds me of a memory I have of my Dad.
I was older than Ethan but it’s one of the earlier memories that has stuck with me.

Dad came home from teaching and I crawled up in his chair and we sat there watching looney tunes.
I still remember he was wearing a blue shirt with goldish paisleys on it. For some reason that was my favorite shirt of his.
I can still smell the Old Spice after shave.
And then I asked him what his favorite cartoon was.

The Road Runner.

Wow my Dad liked cartoons!
I had a new respect for the Road Runner from that point on.

That too was a moment of zen.

Just a quick note here…

Our appointment with the doctor got moved up to March 17th.
We’ll know the gender then.

Anyone care to guess?

Most of you know this.
But for the record…

We are expecting again!!

We are, of course, very excited and terrified.
After trying so long for Ethan, and eventually turning to science for help, getting surprised was… well… surprising!

No word yet on gender but we will find out in late March.

I’m sure having a two-ish year old and a new born will be a piece of cake.
Right?
It only gets easier.
Right??
